Frederick County, VA land and farms also have a thriving agricultural community today: hundreds of people flock to Frederick County every year for the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival, a ten-day event celebrating local orchards and vineyards and the beauty of spring. The rest of the year, Frederick County supports farmers and local farms through preservation programs, agricultural development initiatives, and Homegrown Frederick: a program designed to highlight the more than 1,300 farms, ranches, dairies, and nurseries that call Frederick County home. Floriculture is a major industry in Frederick County and it’s not uncommon to see fields of brightly-colored flourishing flowers while out on an afternoon drive. Those country roads also lead to Interstates 66 and 81, which connect Frederick County residents all the way from Washington, DC to the Tennessee and West Virginia state lines.
