Mossy Oak represents farms and land in Chesterfield County that offer unlimited opportunities for agriculture, manufacturing, development and recreation. Farmers successfully raise varied crops, orchards, livestock, poultry and eggs. Chesterfield County ranks 465 out of 3,073 farms nationwide in product sales. Approximately 126,000 acres of Chesterfield County land in the 806-square-mile county is devoted to farms, 97% of which are family owned. Low property tax evaluation of 44 cents per $100, reasonably priced land and available experienced labor has attracted manufacturing and distribution companies including Schaeffler Group, Wal-Mart Distribution Center, Tucker Lumber, MarMac Manufacturing. Recreation is readily available including several popular golf courses that draw players from across the region. Hunting and fishing, particularly in the swamps of the Black Creek and Lake Robinson, are popular with residents and visitors alike. Hunters can bag whitetail deer, turkeys, ducks, dove, geese and quail. Fishermen wet a line to snag bass and catfish. The county has several towns with varied services and outdoor activities such as walking tracks, parks and baseball fields. Located on the border with North Carolina, Chesterfield County is part of the Charlotte Metropolitan Area. With a population of about 47,000, Chesterfield County School District provides K-12 classes, and Northeastern Technical College has branches in Pageland and Cheraw.
