The temperate climate and beautiful location of Aiken County land and farms have attracted wealthy transplants for over a century, who created extensive outdoor amenities and infrastructure that now serve all the county’s public. Urban forest Hitchcock Woods has served Aiken County residents for over 200 years, maintaining 2,100 acres and 70 miles of hiking, walking, and riding trails. Aiken County also has a flourishing art scene, with organizations like the Aiken Center for the Arts and Aiken Community Theatre putting on gallery exhibitions, theatrical performances, and art installations.
