Bland County Land and Farms

Bland County land and farms are perfect locations for investors, manufacturers and those seeking land to build a getaway or hunting camp. Located in the southwestern portion of the state, it is part of the Appalachian region and is contiguous with West Virginia. The 359-square-mile county is home to just 6,300 residents. Land in Bland County is strategically positioned on I-77, which intersects with I-81, 13 miles to the south of the county. This location gives businesses ready access to the Great Lakes region, Northeast and Southeast markets. There also is easy access to the coal fields of Virginia, West Virginia and Kentucky as well as that industry's major suppliers. More than 70,000 acres are in farmland of which 60% is used for crops and pasture and 35% left as woodlands. Portions of the Jefferson National Forest and the Appalachian Trail are located in the county. Wolf Creek Indian Village and Museum and the Wolf Creek Golf and Country Club draw many visitors. Hunters find it to be a sportsman’s paradise where bear, deer and small game can be bagged. Fishermen can snag brook and rainbow trout in the small mountain streams, while bass and other species are found in the larger streams. ABB Service Co. and Melvin Enterprises are two of the major private employers. Bland County Public Schools provide K-12 education.
